BOARD TRUSTEE
Join Active Prospects as a Board Trustee and help shape inclusive, high-quality support for people with learning disabilities, autistic people and people with complex needs.
Active Prospects has been recognised as one of the UK’s Best Workplaces 2025 by Great Place To Work UK.
We are seeking two Board Trustees to bring strategic insight, sound judgement and a strong commitment to our charitable purpose. We are particularly interested in people with experience in business development, fundraising or commissioning.
Active Prospects is an award-winning social care charity providing high-quality support that enables people to flourish in their own homes and communities. We have a strong track record in supporting people to leave hospital, supporting people with complex needs, and working alongside people through genuine co-production.
We are ambitious about tackling the health inequalities experienced by people with learning disabilities and work in partnership with academic, statutory and community partners to create lasting change.
The role involves a commitment of up to eight 2.5-hour evening meetings each year.
Trustees are supported by fellow Board members and an experienced CEO and Executive Team. The Board provides oversight, scrutiny, strategic challenge and creative input, while the Executive Team leads operational delivery and strategy development.
We are particularly interested in candidates who can bring one or more of the following:
Business development, income generation or fundraising experience
Commissioning experience or an understanding of how services are funded and delivered across health, social care, supported living, housing or the voluntary sector
Strategic financial awareness, including oversight of budgets, audit, risk or governance
Knowledge of the care, social care or charitable sector
The ability to contribute at Board level through constructive challenge, sound judgement and strategic thinking
Strong communication skills and a collaborative, inclusive approach
A commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion, environmental sustainability, and Active Prospects’ values
